Welcome to our matcha farm, where sustainability and flavor excellence intertwine to create an impressive experience. Nestled in the heart of a mountainous, sub-tropical landscape, Botanik Matcha is sourced from a carefully selected farm in Kagoshima, Japan.

The land provides optimal growing conditions of high elevation, dense coastal fog, mild seasons, and mineral-rich volcanic soils.

The pesticide-free farm practices the ancient Chagusaba Method; having the utmost respect for keeping the plants, ecosystem and tea drinkers free of toxins.

The flavor profile is impressively smooth, with a cultivar blend made for low grassy notes. Excellent in lattes or on its own!

Subtropical climates have a significant impact on matcha tea, influencing its flavor, color, and aroma. The higher temperatures and increased sun exposure enhance the sweetness, richness, and complexity of matcha, while also stimulating higher chlorophyll production in tea leaves, leading to a vibrant green color associated with quality.

Tea at higher elevations grows slowly, developing complex flavors. Mist formation provides shade, fostering flavorful leaves and boosting compounds like theanine. With fewer pests and diseases due to cooler temperatures, the crop stays healthier, retaining amino acids for a smooth taste and potent beneficial compounds, all contributing to the rich flavor of high-quality matcha.

Our farm is situated on the volcanic site of Sakurajima, meaning the matcha benefits from mineral richness, an acidic pH, and enhanced drainage, resulting in a unique flavor profile. These factors create a balance of sweetness, umami, and complexity while also minimizing pests and diseases, ensuring a healthy and prized tea crop that is highly sought after by tea enthusiasts.

The mineral-rich volcanic spring water at our farm enhances soil fertility, promotes plant health, and influences the nuanced flavor of matcha. Its balanced pH, essential nutrients, and low salinity are key to sustainable tea cultivation practice. Natural volcanic mineral water supports sustainable tea farming, chemical-free irrigation for ecological balance.

Our use of high-end mist Irrigation, powered by onsite spring water, offers multiple benefits for tea plantations. It maintains ideal humidity levels, cools the plantation during hot spells, protects matcha plants from heat stress, aids in photosynthesis and nutrient absorption, prevents drought stress, removes dust from leaves, and reduces pest infestation risks.

On-site organic compost enriches matcha cultivation by providing essential nutrients, improving soil structure, fostering a healthy soil microbiome, and reducing reliance on synthetic inputs. This ultimately enhances flavor, promotes sustainable practices, and contributes to carbon sequestration and soil health, and ensures long-term environmental stewardship.
